Almarin enhances the Tormes River with new floating pontoons
15-05-2026
The City Council of Salamanca has completed the installation of two new floating pontoons on the left bank of the Tormes River, with the aim of improving the riverbanks and promoting their recreational and tourist use. One of the pontoons replaces an existing infrastructure next to the Enrique Estevan Bridge, while the second one, designed as a viewing platform, is newly built and located at the mouth of the Zurguén stream, next to Nebrija Park.
These floating installations were carried out by Almarin, a specialized company that developed solutions adapted to the site’s requirements. The 18-meter-long pontoon stands out for its versatility, as it offers three different configurations depending on operational needs. Designed to facilitate vessel mooring and ensure safe access for users, the infrastructure includes a five-meter gangway with handrails, as well as an anchoring system composed of galvanized steel struts and slings.
The second pontoon, smaller in size, consists of a single 6-meter module, a five-meter gangway with handrails, and is secured by means of a galvanized steel strut.
This project forms part of the “Landscape Restoration and Environmental Improvement Project for the natural surroundings of the Tormes River for recreational and tourist use between the Enrique Estevan and Sánchez Fabrés bridges”, approved by the Duero River Basin Authority (CHD).
With this intervention, the City Council reinforces its commitment to enhancing the Tormes River as a space for leisure, nature, and tourism in the city.
