The Sada Yacht Club improves access to the sea with a new inclusive dock for dinghy sailing and rowing
23-03-2026
The Sada Yacht Club (Club Náutico de Sada), located in the Ares and Betanzos estuary (A Coruña, Spain), has installed a new dock dedicated to dinghy sailing and rowing. This significantly improves sea access conditions and reinforces its commitment to universal accessibility and inclusive sports.
Boosting nautical sports and inclusion
The new facility will optimize the launching and recovery operations of sports boats, as well as facilitate safe access to the water for athletes, sailing school students, and club users, including people with reduced mobility.
The floating infrastructure, supplied and installed by Almarin, consists of a 40-meter-long main aluminum pontoon featuring a structure highly resistant to marine corrosion and non-slip flooring. The setup includes a 12-meter articulated gangway that absorbs tidal variations and ensures the connection to the pier, as well as a 40-meter-long, 4.5-meter-wide floating ramp adjacent to the pontoon, designed to facilitate the launching and recovery of dinghies. Additionally, the installation incorporates a crane with a 125 kg capacity to assist in the boarding and disembarking of people with reduced mobility. Finally, the infrastructure is equipped with water and electricity service pedestals and an emergency pedestal.

“The new dock represents a very important step for the Sada Yacht Club. It is an infrastructure designed to promote activities such as dinghy sailing and coastal rowing, but also to facilitate access to the sea for people with reduced mobility. Our goal was to create a more inclusive, open, and useful nautical space for both our members and the community, and we believe this facility will contribute significantly to that. In the coming weeks, the institutional inauguration will take place—an occasion we hope to offer to the highest regional authority, the entire nautical community, and our hinterland in particular.” Enrique Tostado, president of the Sada Yacht Club

After delays in installation due to adverse weather conditions, which affected the planning of waterfront works, the infrastructure has been completed and put into service.
This project is co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), within the framework of community-led local development strategies (CLLD/GALP), and by the Xunta de Galicia. With more than 300 moorings and a large dry marina area, the Sada Yacht Club continues to consolidate itself as one of the main nautical centers in the estuary, promoting both sporting activity and the social and maritime revitalization of the environment.
