Almarin joins 1st World Marine AtoN Day
The 1st of July will be held the first edition of World Marine Aids to Navigation Day, after the decision taken on IALA Conference in Incheon (Korea) in 2018. The main goal is to aware of the importance of the AtoN world by promoting a safety navigation in coastal waters and waterways, as the preservation of the marine environment. International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) also declares that this event is willing to “improve the society’s perception of AtoN as modern, technologically advanced marine aids which, alongside traditional lighthouses, embrace the latest digital developments and support new developments in all fields, including VTS”.
On October of 2018, during the ENG8 sessions that took place in IALA headquarters (St Germain en Laye, France), World AtoN Day was officially presented. The image selected for this presentation showed one of the more than one hundred Almarin’s navigation buoys installed in Buenaventura waters (Colombia). Almarin is a Spanish company specialised in the design and manufacture of navigation buoys and beacons, following the IALA standards. As a member of IALA since 2008, Almarin will be attending to the celebration, that will take place the 1st of July in Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands). Spain will host this event because of the government agency Puertos del Estado, which chaired the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) until May 2018. The 1st of July was selected due to the creation of the IALA on the 1st of July of 1957.
