Elastic Mooring Systems

Elastic Mooring Systems

  • Preservation of the seabed and posidonia

The elastic mooring system is an advanced alternative to traditional chain moorings. Rather than relying on the weight of a chain in the form of a catenary, usually touching the seabed, the elastic solution tightens when a load is applied. In this way, it can act as a bow mooring with constant tension and/or in an anchorage, cushioning waves and wind loads. With this elastic system the seabed and the posidonia are well-preserved. In addition, annual maintenance is simplified, avoiding repairs or replacements since the wear of the assembly is avoided.
