Three large onshore beacons in Panamá

In 2015, the Panama Maritime Authority launched a tender for the supply and installation of three new leading onshore beacons in two access channels: Bahía de Manzanillo and Bahía las Minas, specifically a land leading tower in Manzanillo and two others, a marine and a terrestrial, in the Minas.

The challenge consisted in designing large onshore beacons (15 m, 35 m and 40 m) that were robust and safe both for coastal areas (with a tropical climate) and for transit areas. Due to their great heights, the towers had to be divided into different modules of weight and dimension to facilitate their transport and installation. In addition, the wind loads on these structures were considered, complying with Eurocodes, and that they were capable of withstanding a 140km / h wind and 200km / h gusts of wind.
