The Port Authority of Melilla renews its maritime marking

At the Chafarinas Pier, on the island of Isabel II, after the removal of the old beacon and the demolition of its support, the signal has been replaced by a fiberglass signaling tower four meters high, which contains a inside access.

The Port Authority of Melilla has just renewed its maritime marking through the replacement of eight marine aids to navigation, seven of which are located in the Port of Melilla and one on the Isabel II Island quay, in the Chafarinas Islands, opposite off the coast of Morocco. The technical staff of Almarin, the company awarded the public tender, has traveled to carry out the works so that the navaids comply with the regulations of Puertos del Estado.

At the Chafarinas Pier, on the island of Isabel II, after the removal of the old beacon and the demolition of its support, the aid has been replaced by a fiberglass tower of four meters high, which contains an access to the inside. This new modular beacon has been assembled in pieces of 20 kg each on site by the operators by hand. The tower contains an access door with a security system and an internal staircase, and in the upper part a platform three meters high to be able to carry out the maintenance of the beacon with a protective railing; finally, there is a support with the autonomous maritime lantern.

Regarding the navaids in the port of Melilla, the interior port aids have been replaced by new stainless steel onshore beacons, specially designed for the client, with three meters high and an access ladder incorporated. The supplied onshore beacons are highly resistant to corrosive environment. In this way, now all the beacons comply with the recommendations of the Marine Aids to Navigation Guide of Puertos del Estado.
