The Torreiros documentary, directed by Pablo Ces, premiered this Saturday at Far de Calella (Maresme), a space provided by the Port Authority of Barcelona. Almarin was present at the event since the company has co-financed the project, together with the Port Authority of Vilagarcía and the Port Authority of Ferrol. The presentation of the documentary was carried out by Montserrat Candini, Mayor of Calella; Pablo Ces, director of the work; David Moré, historian; Enric Garcia, representing the Barcelona Maritime Museum; and Encarnació Soler, president of the CinemaRescat association. The documentary will also be screened on August 22 in Noia (A Coruña) and on October 2 at the Galician Center for Contemporary Art (CGAC) in Santiago de Compostela.

Pablo Ces commented that, fascinated by the world of lighthouses due to his father's profession, he wanted to portray the peculiar life model of the lighthouse keeper and the progressive extinction of this trade. “Before, loneliness and nature; now, technique and communication, ”he said, mentioning a phrase from the maritime signals technician Miguel Ángel Sánchez Terry. In the presentation of the documentary, the history of the lighthouse keepers was discussed, paying particular attention to an important turning point for the trade: when in 1993 the body of Maritime Signals officials disappeared and they became dependent on the Port Authorities. Likewise, emphasis was placed on the life of the lighthouse keeper, marked by isolation, the close bond between the members of the small community around the lighthouse, losses, etc. "The lighthouse keepers are the soul of the lighthouses," said Enric Garcia. The event included a guided tour of the Calella Lighthouse, an exhibition and a screening of Torreiros.
